Chocolate Cream Cheese Cake SlicesChocolate Cream Cheese Cake

Are you looking for an easy chocolate cake recipe?  I have taken this to more than one Easter potluck dinner.  It’s a big favorite.

It’s a simple cake recipe that you can put together in just a few minutes.  The Chocolate Cream Cheese Cake is so rich with the cream cheese filling, one cake will serve many people.

Put raspberries and whip cream on the side and you have a masterpiece in my opinion.  Besides, desserts using store-bought cake mixes are always a winner in my busy lifestyle.

My mom sent me this recipe.  She had gotten from some magazine.  When I questioned her about it later she said she thinks it came from Reader’s Digest.    Who knows for sure, I’m just glad she sent it my way. It is SO good!

Things you’ll need:

  • Bundt cake pan
  • Hand or stand mixer
  • Two mixing bowls
  • Toothpick
  • Wire rack

  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (18.25 oz)
  • ½ cup semisweet chocolate mini-morsels

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Butter and flour a 12 cup bundt cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar with a mixer until smooth.
  • Add egg and vanilla; beat until blended and set aside.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, prepare cake as directed on box; fold in chocolate chips.
  • Pour chocolate batter into prepared pan.
  • Evenly cover with cream cheese mixture.
  • Bake about 45 to 55 minutes, until a wooden toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
  • Cool on wire rack for 25 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and cool completely.
  • Dust with powdered sugar.

Serving suggestion:  Whip cream and raspberries on the side.

I hope you like this cake recipe.  Let me know how it came out!
